PRAIRIE VIEW – With good reason, Prairie View A&M officials are excited to be able to show off the school's new $61 million, 15,000-seat, on-campus stadium, which was the site of Sunday's Labor Day Classic. The stadium is a winner. And on Sunday, it was the Panthers looking like champions, after a shaky start. Prairie View erased an 11-point halftime deficit to rally past Texas Southern 29-25, spoiling Michael Haywood's initial game as the Tigers' head football coach. A 39-yard scoring pass from Trey Green to KhaDarel Hodge with 7:07 remaining in the game put the Panthers up for good and Owen Hoolihan's extra point ended the scoring before a crowd of 14,982. The Panthers' late heroics gave coach Willie Simmons his second win in as many games in the Labor Day Classic. "Wins are hard to come by and I'm happy to have this one under the belt," Simmons said. "It was a highly-charged football game, which we anticipated coming in. Link to Story
